MELAKA – Barisan Nasional (BN) has confirmed its cooperation with Pas for the Melaka state election, scheduled for Nov 14.

BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said negotiations on seat allocations between the two parties had been finalised.

He said BN would contest 21 state seats, while Pas and its partners would contest the remaining seven.

“I would like to confirm that BN will contest 21 seats, while Pas and its partners will contest seven seats,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Melaka Bermunajat: Ratib Al-Attas and Asmaulhusna recital, at Masjid Salmah Khamis in Masjid Tanah on Wednesday.

Also present was Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

Zahid said BN would use its own logo in the state election, while the decision on whether to use the Pas logo would be left to the party’s leadership.

He added that BN would announce its list of candidates on Oct 24, following the completion of all assessments and party-level discussions.
